Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

my time at WF

So i made the mistake of working here until recently and i just want to point out a few things about this company that i think are an absolute joke, let me know what you guys think:

1- If anyone told me this company ever made money i wouldn't believe it. They have no sense of business or work ethic, and rely waaaay too much on gimmicks (PB&J sandwhiches, safety stars, cool coins, etc) . Its really a joke when you hand an adult a cool coin or whatever the he-l they are called

2- It is obvious that most of the higher ups talked there way up and didnt earn the positions through merit and work ethic. Outside of our STL , most of the TLs in the store are an absolute joke that no one says anything good about. They have ZERO leadership abilities, and the worst part? There is no way to hold them accountable because you hold your position until you DIE or LEAVE. Even if you do a sht job everyday, THEY CANT HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE

3- Who designed these stores? People in board rooms that have literally never walked into a grocery store, thats who. When you have shelves 9 ft off the ground and the average female customer is 5'5, then you screwed up. But it doesnt matter because they dont care anyway

4- Instead of giving raises to the VERY FEW employees that actually work hard, these id--ts hire 10-15 new amazon shoppers every week. They cant wrap there heads around amazon shoppers not being able to buy products because its not on the shelf. And its not on the shelf because they go cheap and cut hours of FT employees without understanding that those guys make them money by selling them products

There are a few more , but overall this company is run by amateurs and at least for now, Amazon doesnt seem to give a sht.

PS- I used to think this was a premium brand, but ITS NOT. Its just a brand for people that would have died at birth 100 years ago. People that are allergic to everything, or born without immune systems. Yea we stay in business by charging those guys a premium.

honestly guys, there isnt much difference between fast food workers and grocery store workers besides the laughable ego that some WF employees have.

Agreed, Jealousy for sure...however i personally would choose a Taco Bell employee over these questionnaire applicants they're hiring with book smarts, networking and donkey licking skills...rather than Common sense, Sense of urgency and problem solving skills .People who work for Toco Bell or fast food In general have to work twice as hard for less pay and would most likely Appreciate half the work for a for a decent life changing (in some cases) pay rate... don't get me wrong WFM hires some team members that bring all the above to the table
if I had to roll the dice or shake a magic 8 ball that's probably what this woman brings to the table .
Ps-Be nice.

Speaking of people who couldn't hold down a job at Taco Bell, the e-commerce people are the most worthless people I've encountered at WFM.

I think what "Big D Ethnic" is trying to say is that Big D Ethnic is too unintelligent to spell actual words or create coherent sentences and has no class. Sounds jealous a more successful man stole his girlfriend.

That's the real problem with Whole Foods. "We hire the best". Yeah, we hire the best that couldn't hold down a job at Taco Bell.

Makes me wonder if you spent your whole shift pointing things out.

Just thought I should point this out if you find yourself with the same problems in your new place of employment, it's not them it's you .I can assure you that once you become a grown-up and rise to the top and claim "your spot" it's the same cr-p different day do your self a favor and tilt your head back and go with the current not against it,hate too break it to you it's not a sink or swim world.

Ps- Keep your head above water. Live, learn, love.

Well good thing i will never work retail again. BTW why is it ok to run a business to the ground just because (as you claim) all of their competitors are doing it? Wouldnt that be the perfect time to rise above the rest and claim your spot at the top? Your mindset is why this company is a joke TBH

Our ASTL stood around looking at food all day while our STL WORKED U-BOATS. Half our employees were walking around in circles their entire shifts doing nothing. The Prep Food area was a disaster in every way possible, and the TL was a spaced out dr-ggy. The grocery department was run by the most low energy clown on earth, the literal definition of a push-over. I actually told my STL that I think whoever promoted the TL im referring too, probably wanted the company to sink.

Everyone would talk cr-p about each other everyday, and that was actually the highlight of the job because the jokes were hilarious . The long term workers seemed to have checked out a long time ago, and the new kids were smart enough to know that they just had to show up and get the free money.

Businesses have been around since the dawn of man, and there are basic rules to being a successful.... like putting product on the shelf. Judging by the pallets of backstock and expired products not getting rotated , i can confirm that WF cant even do the most basic thing a business should do. That's why this company is kind of a joke.

PS- everything I said was well known in our store and nothing ever happened. the only people that got fired were the no call no shows, the people who blatantly refused to work and showed up for a free paycheck never got disciplined. Chuk-E-Cheese is literally run better
