Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

How do you know?

Just curious, how do some of you seem to know when layoffs are coming? I have been with the bank for many years, new”ish” to this site, and I’m curious. Should I be looking for signs? Please no haters, I just want to know.

I’m no longer with the bank. But knew when layoffs were happening because there is a monthly schedule/calendar that tells managers when, and how many people they need to layoff. One of my business partners published it in their business review.

I was laid off several years ago after nearly 25 years at BAC and have been aware of this site for several years before that happened.

  1. Don’t believe the majority of the comments here. Much of it is bu-----t. Many of these people have no idea what they’re talking about
  2. I was ecstatic when I got my notice. I secretly prayed for two years to get a package and when I got the call, my pussified manager was beating around the bush. I asked him if I was being let go, he said yes, I told him to overnight the papers.
  3. There is life outside BAC. I found a lucrative IT job three weeks after leaving BAC. No overtime, no weekends required and no pathetic managers to deal with. I was a B4 at BAC, now I no longer need to manage anyone. What a relief.
  4. Don’t worry about what may or may not happen. Keep your skills and resume up to date. There are tons of jobs EVERYWHERE!

I heard from a reliable source that the company is undergoing a total restructuring of it business. This will entail massive branch closures. They will eliminate a number of middle management postions. They are also sending massive jobs overseas. This will allow them to operate efficiently and lower expenses.

They’re guessing. And on this board they’re more often calling false alarms.

Summer folks here know just a bit in advance. Director level and up will know, basically, that heads are going to roll. It's very much against the rules to share the info.

Depends. Are you essential? If so, you’re ok. If not you need to have your resume out there.

I’ve been here 20+ years. Make sure you are needed.
