Why not just let all of those smiling faced employees stay RTO and those that want to go in, go! Good for you. I’m glad you are better when you’re connected. What happened to diversity. We all work differently, so have options for all instead of
Pushing us all into one bucket.

havent received the RTO email yet and not planning to go back, there is no windows in floor where I work, all is closed and people were packed .. if someone gets covid ( even after being vaccinated ) it will most likely pass it to others...

for me the upside of this pandemic was I truly got to see that we can effectively do our jobs from home (majority of us at least).

The commute from NJ via bus services to NYC (roughly 11 miles) was over an hour to come in and 1.5hrs to get back home. In the winter I left when it was dark and came back when it was dark. I saw the sunshine on weekends if it did not pour rain.

Now, after nearly 2 years of WFH, I realized what's important to me. It's not the 4 walls and glass. It's not the "water cooler" conversations or "energy" from the office. There was very little value to that. What's important is that I got to enjoy my work without those distractions. I am connected more than ever with the same tools we used in the office. NO one got up and went into a conference room to have a project meeting with 50 people. This is still on Webex and BAU. I feel like people are more responsive now and make the meetings because it's the only way to connect.
I get it if there is an offsite and people need to attend, but that's fine, it can be done on a hybrid approach.

It's really a missed opportunity for the Bank to come ahead of this. Going against all odds here and all-in on "We're an in office culture". Ultimately no one is happy to be back and you can tell this isnt what they wanted.

For me I value being home, safe and with family. Even after the Pandemic, I do not foresee myself 5x a week ever again. I will take a pay cut because I have placed value on those things and I know opportunities out there can provide that for me irrespective I've I like my current job or not. easy decisions will be made by those who have figured it out and that's walking out of the door!

I wanted to go in. My apartment is small. I like to come in.

HOWEVER, I don't actually want to go in to the office. I basically came in because of necessity. If I had an extra room to make into an office or something with a desk, I would 100% prefer to not sit in traffic. Also there is no coffee at work right now. And it's no different from before COVID -- nobody really talks because there isn't really a need to, we all do our jobs.

  1. .. I feel like I'm shortening my life with this commute but I'm in a pickle. I am going to look to move and find a different job if I don't start feeling differently. But I do like the bank.

That's how I feel, you asked I answered. For sure my coworkers who have a larger place want to stay at home and I am TOTALLY with them. I really hope they offer flex to those that want it. Buildings are a sunk cost, it doesn't cost more or less to have or not have people in them. I hope they realize that.

so... if we feel sick we have to get a covid test do we continue to go into office? or we just use up sick days since we cannot WFH?

i went back yesterday. not much has changed besides hand sanitizing stations that you see when you enter Walmart. Desks and layouts are the same.
There was even a cake of dust on my pc, they didn't even bother to clean.

I certainly did not see faces like the propaganda that shows on Flagescape about teammates being happy to be back. Almost everyone had dead eyes and does not want to be there.
