Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

lack of training...

We hire so many people and fail to train them properly.
I find it that the SMEs are so overwhelmed that they do not train new hires properly. We end up with swaths of people that do not know what they are doing and the Bank is ok with that.
It has also become a real problem now with RTO and lots of SMEs walking out of the door. New hires have no clue what's going on. This is a ticking time b0mb...

I can not learn from people around me and feel like my career is at a stand still. I'm actually looking outside now...

Is anyone in a similar situation? I just dont have it in me to train myself...i feel like ive done all that i could.

Younger people in their twenties and early thirties can’t take constructive criticism. They are used to getting trophy for everything and have never failed and learned from their mistakes. If you try to correct them, they get defensive, offer a lame excuse for their mistake or f#kc up and refuse to accept any accountability. So I’m done trying to lead, share expand wisdom. I hope they all find out the hard way (RIF’d) you can’t keep facing up your job and get a reward. In the banking world, errors equal lay off/getting fired.

Good luck to that generation, they are going to need it. No accountability or common sense whatsoever. Mind boggling how they got hired.

I've trained a lot of new hires over the years, somehow I manage to juggle my project and teach them as well. I enjoy training new hires .What I don't care for is after months of training a contractor who has the skill sets we need, they either turn down an FTE slot because they won't move to a hub or if they accept an FTE position I find out that they didn't pass their background check.

I have been in several positions in the bank and this has been the truth for all of them. The people that make the procedure often have no experience and everything gets convulted. Yes people withhold information or don't have time. WOW if BM and the board knew how much money is being wasted on processes and how much of the work goes down in flames maybe they would make a change. Currently it can't go on like this.

Upper management thinks they can replace people easily and train new fcuks . These new hires are so overwhelmed with the system and are leaving or staying until something better comes along. BOA is such a pitiful place to be at this time. I have never seen a place that is so misguided and mismanaged in my life. The conference calls are totally uninspiring and a complete waste of time. This place is truly a disgrace and embarrassment to be an employee.

I agree with both posts. Those who want to train others simply do not have the time as they are typically already underwater with the abundance of work of their plates. Those that do have the time to train often are doing the minimum and if they were to train others it would show how little they actually do each day.

The POS you're referring to are not the workers. Their bargaining chip keeps their family fed. The corporation holds the threat of layoff over their head.

Have a kid, you'll know the fear of not being able to put a roof over their head. Suddenly, you won't share that info with the intern that's here to replace you either.

The problem is that we are working with a lot of people that don't want to share or train you because they are insecure and afraid of being laid off. Their knowledge is the bargaining chip, I had that done to me in a few places. They don't tell you the procedures, withhold information and access to databases, they outright lie and tell you that they don't know. There are some real POS out there.
