Where do you find time for that?
I would love to train new hires but I am so overwhelmed with work that I really wouldn’t have any time for it.

It's never easy to train new hires. I'm like you, slammed with projects, unrealistic timelines, etc. I set aside 30-60 min M, W, F for the bulk of the training. After a week or two, I pull them into my project meetings. As we meet during the week we discuss what was said in the meetings, expectations, requirements, ensuring we have all the resources, and finally process. After a month I have them assigned to meetings as leads. I shadow and feed answers via IM. Eventually the time spent starts to slow. If the new hire is skilled, the fly, if not, they fall 60 feet to the ground from the nest.
