Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

BofA has one of the most aggressive RTO policies out there.

Nearly all the major tech and fin companies have come out supporting remote and hybrid. These BofA execs singing "we are an office company" is going to be the biggest joke of the century... What the F does that even mean? We went back to the office to do the exact same sht we did from home and that is sky or WebEx meetings.

Just learned over the weekend the another group member took a role with a Fintech start up. Which means now I get to do their work...I haven't seen a raise in 3 damn years and all the hires have been either visa or offshored to India and completely incapable of doing quality work. These are non dev roles too!

I'm sticking it out for the severance package or the next job! I can no longer go to the office not thinking this company is a joke and jokers at the helm.

If you're not one of the "in" crowd who schmoozes their way to leadership positions, you'll be passed up time and time again. It's not a meritocracy at all.

I don't work for BoA. But no use complaining. Do your work and wait for severance. This is the way it is in all companies. Lot's of visa folks or outsourcing jobs now. Like it or not, this is the way it is and it's going to get worse as more professional jobs get outsourced especially since Covid showed many corporate executives that if jobs are done remotely for two years, then they can be outsourced as well. Jobs will leave to India, China, Vietnam, Poland, anywhere it's cheap. And sure, at first the offshored job quality is poor but it gets better and the stock price shows it. No executive cares about you, they care about meeting the quarterly numbers and the amount of money that goes in their pocket. You complain too much, and you get laid-off. That's exactly what happened to my group of 50 people. So keep doing your work, stop complaining cause it won't help. No one listens to little guys like us. We are the middle class who keeps paying taxes. We are poorer then the poor or the rich. We middle class folks are the poorest. Be glad you have a job and enjoy the weekends if you're not forced to work them without pay. This is life until AI robots take over. It's going to be worse for our kids with competition from China. Sorry to sound so negative but this is the way it is.

I concur. 18 years at this firm and it's the worst I've seen now.
There is no pride to working here anymore. My team also in tech has no diversity at all on top of the workload. It's all visa workers and nepotism is rampant. I hate to say it but let's call an elephant and elephant.
