Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Consider everything... outside of BNYMellon

It's amazing how so many good people have been let go and poor managers continue to survive. As someone else pointed out, these managers are weak. They are afraid. They are "yes" people. Until BNYM hires real LEADERS, it will never be a top organization. I was not impressed with Charlie but even he left... and took his buddies. As BNYM says: consider everything... everything that is not BNYM!

I’m sure there are managers that have no business being in the position but I know my manager quit because he was always getting handcuffed and had no actual authority to do anything. All he basically could do was “submit” promotions that still needed 2 levels of approval from above him. And yes, to the other persons comment, pretty much everything is mandated so either mandate or be fired. I love how people here say these managers are weak, are you willing to disobey who you report to and be tossed for it? That’s pretty much what you are asking of managers…. It’s one thing to fight for your employees etc. but it a whole other story to ignore direct orders

To be fair, it's not like any managers are given any real control. At least 95% of my tasks were mandated.

Gee, that's been going on now since Charlie. My last manager was a real beauty let me tell you. Had no business being one whatsoever.
