Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Sorry to break the old news… WFH is over. RTO is the new normal.

It’s not that difficult, people. Quit complaining or you’re gonna get yourselves RIF’d.

Interested to see an attempt to hire new folks at lower rates...they'll get what they pay for, as all the top performers and higher value employees have left for greener pastures. I'm sure they'll weather the storm but it's not going to be pretty for those that stayed.

I’m a myWork person since before 2020. Not GTO. Literally praying to get laid off. 20 years in and it’s obvious I’m being driven to quit. I was going to wait but found out yesterday I could take two steps down and earn the same $$ I get today.

Always easier to hire new people at lower rates and give them the WFH option. If they really cared about your wants, they would have already allowed a hybrid work schedule. But they are not doing that. Writing is on the wall. They don’t care if you leave, that is actually what they want, it’s better for them to not have to pay severance.

I think the previous poster has a good point, if BoA does some kind of hybrid work schedule, they will do so only after a lot of attrition. Then they will replace and hire folks that can WFH at a much lower pay rate. They are getting exactly what they desire, people are leaving and when they hav to replace they will do so with the WFH perk but at a much lower pay rate.

They are not stupid, they see that people will leave over the WFH schedule and then they don’t have to pay severance or unemployment benefits if people resign.

It’s a win/win for the bank because everyone is replaceable, it doesn’t matter who you are or what you do.

Yup, one day they will have WFH for some roles on a lower pay scale , but they will be new hires, they are not going to pay you your current salary and benefits to work from home. Ain’t happening.

Even though the current attrition numbers may not be overly high, there are many many BofA employees who are looking at other job opportunities and/or in a holding pattern waiting to see if BofA will allow hybrid work arrangements next year.

I think if BofA sticks with a 5 days/week in office policy then turnover will skyrocket next year after bonuses are paid. They are already struggling to hire and backfill open roles and the referral bonuses are evidence of that.

At the end of the day, BofA leadership can follow the path they choose, but they are in denial to believe it won’t have serious downstream ramifications much more profound than what’s currently happening.

You are aware other companies exist, right? And that they've all pushed RTO back to 2022? And quite a few of them have adopted permanent hybrid or WFH options? Including all comparable competitors? That you get off on being abused by your employer doesn't obligate the rest of us to stay quiet.

Look, it is what it is, you ain’t getting WFH. Wake up. Booster shots are the new normal. Gotta have people coming into an office to justify mandates. It’s not rocket science.

And for those who refuse vaccine, well I think you know how that ends.

Seriously, I think some of you have no idea what’s really going on.

You would think if someone was so unhappy about RTO, they would just look for another job that allowed that since there seems to be so many other places willing to allow workers to WFH ( with reduced pay, of course), but I think the real reason is, those of you complaining are simply not team players and don’t really care about your job. You care about sleeping in, do the minimum and collecting a paycheck while still getting benefits, bonuses and raises.

LMAO, some of you are so naive.

The fact of the matter is, RTO is here to stay for BoA. Either find a new job where you can work remotely or just stop the complaining and whining and deal with RTO like an adult. It’s pathetic. You were hired for a job in an office. Grow up already. So you think you can do your work from home? Well that’s not how it works, you don’t get to make that decision. If you want to make the rules, go start your own company. BoA owes you nothing. Get that through your thick skull.
