Traders Are Overpaid

If traders are good, why they are not in buyside earn big bucks? If they are not, why do they get paid so much?

They are fairly paid. You are obviously jealous.

I don't think they are overpaid, I worked with them in a support role a wile back and they work very hard, are under a lot of stress and have to perform really well. They have portfolios, benchmarks and standards to follow, they cannot do whatever they want, they have to abide by strict rules (commodities, securities, fixed income, MBS....etc). You hear stories about rogue ones, fixing prices, rates, insider info...etc., but I think the bank has this under control. It's all about managing risk and having the right controls in place, on both the sell side and especially on the buy side.
