Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Every day shaking my head in disbelief

The irony is that Mellon was not happy with a colleague who was “not good enough” for them only to later replace him with a student from an average university with whom they are somehow still “satisfied”. Rarely does anything still make sense here, right?
I'd rather they cut me too so I don't have to watch what's going on here now!

Technically that could still be shaking your head.

Graduating a “nice university” often has more to do with Mommy and Daddy’s situation than the student. Graduating from an “average” university often indicates a self starter who took out loans, worked full time the whole way and hit it out of the park with every up bat. Often, first in the family to do it. I graduated very high from two “average” (non Ivy League) Universities on my own dime (loans) and went on to run rings around the wind-aided folks with the cushy bank accounts and no student loans.

So… who really learns more about life, critical thinking and competition? I had 6 years full time work experience before I graduated with my Masters. Good luck competing with that.

I bet that student from an average university at least understands what irony is.

Why not leave rather than wait for them to cut you? 🙄

No need to worry, It’s too late for Mellon to cut you. Mellon ceased to exist 16 years ago.
