Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Ready for a new career journey

Not only was I overwhelmed and under tremendous stress, but I was above all disappointed because I thought I would be able to grow a career at BofA. It's either not possible or I couldn't figure out the right way to do so. What is the right way?? I thought hard work and engagement were enough. In the end, I decided to leave, because I just stagnated here.

Felt the same way after 13 years, stagnated even after taking on multiple stretch assignments and chances for visibility. In the end, I left the bank and the new company is phenomenal.

Left 2 yrs ago after 10+ @ BOA. Once 50, target on your back. Very poorly run, incompetent middle mgt. Toxic work environment will destroy your health. It's a circus run by clowns.

We've already been told that as teammates leave our group then the positions will be backfilled in India, if at all. Our team is not currently aligned with others in our division as far as the % of roles offshore so over the next year or two they are hoping to have 60% of our team in India as a result of US attrition. So in theory, there is no incentive for the Bank to extend any benefits to US employees whether it's merit-based pay increases or flexible work arrangements.

How could anyone expect to feel empowered to perform their role well or really give 2 sh--s about a company that is chomping at the bit to move your role offshore to cheap labor? BofA is willing to ki-l morale and culture in order to boost the bottom line. I once thought I could work my whole career at BofA and retire as early as possible, but I just don't see another decade of employment happening at this place.

Manager purposely leaving some team members out of meetings in hopes more people will leave. They have their marching orders. Ensure we have a percentage of each race/ethnicity and we are giving them merit increase, who cares if they deserve it. Then treat your staff like cr-p so they will get fed up and leave. All about attrition.

I think you made the right choice. I left 18 months ago after 15 years. After years of taking more responsibility, filling gaps etc, there just wasn’t any opportunity

I have worked at other companies and witnessed employees who worked hard and attained their goals were promoted. That happened frequently at the companies I worked for in the past. On the other hand, working here at Bank of America it's mostly political, who can kiss the most azz and being part of some other bullshlit they have here. I have seen so many non-english speaking mofos promoted. I thought effective communication skills were important in this shlithole bank.
