Bank of America execs warn junior staffers to ‘dress down’ as NYC crime surges

Amid a surge in some New York City violent crime, Wall Street bigwigs continue to encourage younger staffers to come into the office — but to do so with caution.

At Bank of America, senior executives have quietly encouraged younger employees to “dress down” to attract less attention as they make their way to B of A’s tower at 1 Bryant Park.

These execs have told their staffers that dressing up, or wearing anything with a Bank of America logo, could make them a target. One bank employee told On The Money he is on high alert after he spotted someone with a kn--e near the office during a recent trek to the Manhattan office.

Of course, it’s not just Bank of America where worries over crime pervade. The city reported a 15 percent increase in felony as----ts over the past 28 days, as of Nov. 28, when compared to the same period a year ago, according to NYPD statistics. (Mu---r rates have surged 42 percent over the past two years, but remained largely flat over the past year.)
==============================
One top executive at a large money-management firm even recently began carrying a Taser as he commutes to his Midtown office, a person with direct knowledge of the matter told On The Money.

And after daylight-saving time ended last month, more people are commuting home in the dark, giving worries over crime a renewed focus.

Crime has increased everywhere so now I will not work in a location where I cannot carry my firearm and thanks to NY, DE and other state's stupid g-n laws, only the criminals carr and they know easy targets.

Wow who'd have thought the big push to defund the police would result in increased crime...

Can't NYC come up with a tax to solve this issue?

Most of this is instigated by folks like Kamala Harris, they've unleashed their animals on law abiding citizens. Seriously they don't pay us enough for this stuff. I mean seriously what's the new dress code.. body armor, Glock, extra rounds. I'm ready to retire, f this place.

I wonder if anyone at The Journal News (NY) regrets releasing all 446 pages of legal g-n owners in the NY metro? Not just once in 2006, but they did it again in 2012! Don't forget that they made a very colorful and easy to access map too! To be fair, I won't single out NY. Yes, the quality of ethical reporting continued in other cities. In 2007 The Roanoke Times did the same thing. Sadly, a lot of media sources followed the trend over a 4 year period.

What's my point? When risky journalism collides with an industry trend to bring their workforce back to the larger cities, crime, inflation, health issues and more will lead to a negative outcome. Keep in mind, I'm not singling out 1 company or media source. I'm pointing out the painful results of what happens when we lose our ability to think and plan for a future that will outlast a generation.

So now they’re telling us how to dress? I think most of us who live in NYC know how to get to work or anywhere else safely, its called situational awareness. Have your hands free at all times when in transit (no walking and talking on cell phone or holding a million bags while trying to drink a latte) and for the love of all that is Holy, don’t flash your gadgets or phones. When in doubt of a situation you simply act more crazy than the people around you. Smiling and laughing like the Joker also works in a pinch. Learn to defend yourself and wear whatever you want.

I mean cmon people, don’t take no sh*t off no one.

What's the NYC crime? Muggings? I guess the criminals think you carry a lot of cash because you work for a bank?

Wear the Logo. All over. The bank is looking to avoid negative publicity for being associated with crime and doesn't want to add fodder to people who want WFM. If they cared they would enhance security. Not tell you to pretend you don't work there.
