Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

WFH = lower pay

I know many are looking for remote jobs right now, but be prepared to settle for lower pay if you're determined to do it. Companies that are offering remote work and currently leveraging that to reduce their usual offers knowing that many people are desperate to change jobs. I'm not saying it's not worth it, just be ready to make that sacrifice if you're determined to continue working from home.

WFH has a few other benefits that few fail to pursue. As soon as I became permanent WFH due to legitimate medical issues, I immediatly contacted my insurance company and changed my vehicle from a daily driver to a recreational vehicle. So long as I stay under 7k miles a year my rates dropped by 75%. They never check mileage. Your house insurance can also change since the house is occupied more. WFH reduced my rates since I'm home and can react fast if an emergency happens.

Who would work for lower pay? Do you think 4.5 million switched for better pay in a month. I am sure most of them opted for remote work.

This month would be interesting to watch for Bank. With Jan 12 RTO, bonus announcement approaching soon, inflation going up, competitor pays going up, it will be interesting to see what the real best and brightest will do.

I left recently for a permanent WFH job and they matched my BAC salary. When I factor in cost of gas, lunches, coffee, and out of pocket childcare saved by staying home, I am ahead.

I am unaware of a company that has lower compensation than Bank of America.

Of course that means it works in reverse right? So If I was WFH for the last 10 years and was told to report to an office going forward they would increase my pay, right? I didn't think so, so the argument of working from home validates less pay is ludicrous.

It depends. When considering gas, lunch, snacks, and such, My WFH position saves me close to $4000 in gas per year and ~470hrs sitting in a car MINIMUM. (realistically that number is probably closer to 520hr saved)
Saving ~20 FULL days of my life from sitting in traffic? Yeah, I'd take a cut to WFH if needed. I'm glad I didn't have to do that, but I would have, no problem. :)

Guess it depends on what you're doing - jobs for my field pay better outside of this company in general remote or otherwise.

not true. it depends on the company and the location and the job spec.

I'm looking for remote opportunities but not willing to accept lower compensation... I would accept equal compensation for the ideal job opportunity though.

Stop spreading lies. I’ve had three interviews for remote roles so far and salary is inline and above with what I’m currently making. I am hopeful that one of the opportunities will work out and if so, this particular opportunities will be an actual pay increase.

Some of you on here are nothing but complainers. Keep your trap shut unless you have facts. Otherwise, good luck to everyone who is looking, there are jobs out there that pay decent.

I've never understood the conversation around lower pay because you are doing your job from home. Did my job change? Am I doing less work? Less hours?

Just seems like the people who push this conversation are attempting to penalize / threaten people who do their jobs from home. Only simple minded folks / companies will try this concept and top talent won't work for them. There's many companies who are forward thinking, recognize the in office culture has changed, and aren't playing any games with paying less to work from home. Those are the companies employees will gravitate towards.
