Can we agree to disagree on RTO?

Deciding the conditions/environment you would be in for about 10 hours of your day (including commute), almost 260 days a year seems like a pretty big deal. Yes, we have worked at an office before. But times change, now after spending time working from home most associates are still performing above average and found themselves being productive and not struggling on a daily basis. We are all here because the bank needs the work done, they really don't care about us at all, we die and get replaced within days. So if they just want production done why make people perform in the worst conditions possible when we can stay where we feel more comfortable office/home and where we perform better? At the end of the day they just need numbers, leaving people at home is saving them money, this whole RTO segregating people in different buildings and testing people weekly so that anyways they let sick people come into the office,etc seems like a sick joke. Like none of it makes sense, we are all (including the bank) wasting time and money. They should just leave associates where they rather be and where they perform better, I think this is why lately RTO is the main topic, imo people are just tired of their nonsense. I can't be the only one who is having a hard time seeing how many people are struggling with the RTO process. :(

@pwe+1eEpHYlW riiiiggght. But I guess you give a s-h-i-t about what Oprah or Judge Judy have to say. Or you prefer making small talk to your sugar baby or daddy online, or that frequent trips to the fridge isn't a distraction.

I'm not pro RTO. I'm anti folks who claim that they're more productive WFH (when they're not) and that working in a office is detrimental to their being, and using not being safe to work in an office because of covid, flu, dirt on desks, unclean bathroom, sneel of curry in kitchen, whatever, when what they really want is to twirl their thumbs in front of their computers and dilly dally while pretending to be productive "working" from home and collect their checks.

You are absolutely not the only one. On my team of 7, everyone would prefer working from home. Even the senior people who don’t say they would prefer it, always sound 10x happier when I speak to them while they’re wfh vs the office.

The argument that some of the pro RTO trolls love to throw around is “but you used to work from the office, haven’t you done that for years, you were hired to work in the office etc etc ad nauseam” sure we have Jack, but now we’ve all had the taste of something better and we don’t want to go back in time. That is how innovation works. Something new comes around, it works better, and then you continue doing it.

Chris rock has this bit in one of his specials, and basically he’s talking about how once girls date a guy with a car, they're never gonna date a guy sans car again. We’re the girls in the analogy, and now we’ve all dated a guy with a car (WFH) and realized how much better life is, we won’t ever date a guy without a car again (Office)

It’s really not difficult and if any c suite t urds in any company, think they can take this away from us, they’ll have a harsh reality to contend with. People are fed up with being wage slaves and these two years WFH has shown that if we have to work for low wages where we can’t achieve the same things we did 50 years ago due to cost of living, at least we can be a smidge happier. If they try walking that back, let’s see how us serfs will react.

Safety and security is near the bottom of Maslow's Hierarchy. Let ppl do what they feel safe doing. Some will go into the office and some won't. Also, I get the thing about kick starting the economy but I guarantee that if they let us come in as we please, more people would come back. I want the option to be out of my house but if I have to choose a polarized nothing or 4-5 days, I'm going to choose nothing. Also, I don't particularly care for the well being if companies like LAZ who charge an enormous rate to store my care for 9 hours a day

i'm more productive at home because there are less distractions from co-workers making small talk and I'm wasting time trying to be cordial to them, when I could give a s-h-i-t about what they have to say.

It’s about control. It has nothing to do with collaborating around the water cooler. Who does that anyway?? I know I don’t. I do my job and I leave. I would rather take a pay cut than see majority of the ones I work with. I am doing my job better than in the office. Less stress for sure. With all the positive cases now they are stupid if they move forward with rto now. I can keep myself safe at home. In the office I will have no control at all. Desks are the same in my department and the people I work with are flying all over the country partying so why should I be exposed to the things they are exposed to for no good reason? This whole thing is equivalent to sleeping around. You can catch something without knowing and if you are around someone you are exposing yourself to all the ones the other person has been around period.
