Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Workplace conditions abysmal. This can't be legal

A single employee gets exposed at one of the centers in our market, and that center closes down immediately. My location? Never. 4 members of our team in the past week have gone out and we are still open. SOACC has not followed up with me like they said they would. Clients from closed centers swarm to us to complain, turning our already understaffed busy location into the ultimate petri dish. We have had 7 different FCMs since March of 2020. We lose new hires as fast as we get them. No one in management is on the same page. Ask 4 managers the same question you get 4 different answers. I spend most of my commutes in tears I am trying to find a way out but it has not been so easy thus far.

I would quit and file for unemployment citing unsafe working conditions. They may initially deny it but you can appeal it.

So sorry you’re going through this, they have really put workers in precarious positions. The government has essentially decided to let Covid rip, everything be damned. They are unwilling to encourage even the slightest restriction or curb, even if it’s to simply say “hey for the next few weeks why don’t y’all stay home a little more often” due to this we are experiencing workers burning out at alarming frequency.

The situation could not be more dystopian. They sit at home nitpicking screenshots of employee behavior, ignoring the real threats we face every single day. Blowing the whistle to OSHA is an incredibly precarious position to put oneself in. It shouldn't be, but the labor laws in this state are at-will employment which essentially means employers are not required to give a reason for termination. Legally speaking, this makes retaliation cases incredibly difficult to prove. SOACC, HR/LES and everyone in management have essentially railroaded this center. They are completely out of touch with reality. On the call the other day they say how market leaders won't be visiting in person (they almost never have been any way) to mitigate spread. Yet they send staff seemingly at random from closed centers to us, presumably because they also cannot say no. On the same call they spent so much time wringing their hands about "oh, we need to make sure that when a team member goes out for covid exposure it is kept quiet so it does not cause a panic." Are you kidding me? They think we are all stupid.

This is an OSHA issue. Call them ASAP! If your state has an a department OSHA call them too. Don't forget local Department of Health.

This is why we need a UNION!

Call EPA and talk to someone. This shouldn't be affecting your mental health to this extend. They need to do better, or have one more employee on leave.
