Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Layoffs

Since this site is about layoffs… what’s happening? Last year there were layoffs the 2nd week of January. Any rumors, whisperings odd meetings scheduled for tomorrow?

There aren’t any significant layoffs. People are self selecting to leave so no real reason to pay someone to take a permanent vacation.

Layoffs today in some Investment Management areas. Layoffs are not "over." Don't kudos yourself.

There have been layoffs this week, but it seems to be a smaller number impacted than previous rounds.

There aren’t any layoffs in progress now. Not even close to it.

The layoff era appears to be largely over. Attrition has been working just fine.

@1jnf, you must know that they purposely are not filling open reqs and are just bleeding the workers by over working their staff. They prefer to wait till the sh-t hits the fan before deciding to pull the trigger on filling any open reqs.

Is Bny having difficulties filling job reqs because they aren’t remote based?

Several folks within Pershing have been laid off this morning. Sketchy details so far (shared by my manager); and i frankly really have no idea how widespread it is.

You may have better luck playing the lotto than getting laid off here at this point. BNYM cannot fill reqs. Pay is low compared to competitors, more work than our competitors, tangled mess of technology causing allot of pain points, and we don't really offer a full remote option.

You'll likely be kept until the next economy collapse.

Is there a lay off this month? So many teams are understaffed and open reqs are so difficult to fill.

Haven’t heard yet and I’m a mgr. In the past they based it off whether you were a low performer at mid and end of year. And if you have nobody that fits in those they create somebody to offer up especially cause they always come in saying they need 20% out of your whole division
