Ask for a raise if

If your team is understaffed due to people leaving and you have been left for more work, I suggest you ask for a raise or low key threat to leave. 20k bumps have been give to people for staying and still getting overtime…

If you have an offer from another company ffs just take the other job. Best decision you'll ever make. You'll look back on this time of your life and laugh at yourself for not doing it sooner.

I've played the another offer from a competitor game. BNY matched and i got a salary bump and promotion. So yes, you need a matching offer otherwise you are ignored.

This is so wrong. But then again we changed our “Shared Values” about 3 years ago so certainly not surprising that “doing the right thing” is history.

presented once offer from another company, company agreed to pay more than this offer if I cancel it. Cancelled it, then the process of receiving counter offer was delayed and finally I was told after 3 months it will be only a matching and not more, 1 month later it was even less than the offer and my bonus and merit was 0 this year
Get a written statement before you agree on anything, not trustworthy

That's just working harder, not smarter.

Move to a different company which pays 20% more for a normal 40 hour work week instead of being forced to work 60 hours by BNY due to understaffing and incompetent management.

It's difficult for people here to interview and find jobs elsewhere because they spend all their time working. Try logging off at 5PM and use the rest of the night to prep for interviews and research companies. That priority issue can wait, or just let the guys in India tackle it.

That sounds highly unlikely. I was on an understaffed team last year and received an offer in a completely different LOB. It was a letter increase and over a $15k raise. Presented it to my old manager, was offered the same promotion at the bottom of that salary band, and was encouraged to take the other offer. It can happen by moving areas, but if your current area is dumping on you why would they pay more for it when they can spread your workload to your coworkers and let you walk?

If providing a offer letter might as well go to that wherever knowing they are looking to replace you as soon as they find someone else

BNY won’t give a raise like this unless you provide them with a copy of your offer letter from your potential new employer

Overtime paid?
Sounds like that's for someone that gets paid hourly.
Been off the clock for years.....
Probably still wouldn't stay for a 20k bump
