Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

There will be no one to work at my store anymore

My store works with a minimum number of people. I intend to give a notice by the end of this week, as do the remaining coworkers, and I'm just wondering what will happen then ... the management will literally have to beg people to come, that is my opinion.

A few days ago my store had no cashiers from open until about noon. The shift leader was ringing people up at the service desk and answering the phones.. Only a handful of team members in prep foods, resulting in no hot bar, salad bar or pizza. Grocery team was down to 2 people who were frantically trying to stock the order from the day before. No porter, so trash was everywhere. Customers walking out without buying anything. It was honestly pretty hilarious how F'd up everything was. They kept the store open though, so I am not sure what it will actually take to close from lack of workers.

WFM is too big to fail. Amazon is gonna bail out the stores hemorrhaging money indefinitely because they cannot actually get rid of any of us. We add too much value to the sloppy business at store level

ASTL told me the other day that stores close if a certain amount of employees are out. 50% maybe? They treat it like an emergency water main break closure. Our store actually closed early recently because there was no one to ring.

What an ego trip. You actually think they won't have anyone to work there after you leave? Whole Foods is a lot bigger than you and your co workers.

they will probably hire kids to replace you and send regional teams there in the mean time. at my old store so many people quit that they brought an outside company in to stock the shelves. wont be hard to replace you though and your store sounds like its on its way out anyway!
