Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Not showing proof of covid

Idg why the bank is not asking their employees for proof of a positive covid test. You’re giving two weeks pay without knowing if someone is blowing smoke. Makes no sense

@5rjz+1eWk2Da7 Ok and ? I’m not talking about your bs home tests. I’m talking about one from an urgent care or your doctors with your name , the doctors name or office where you took . I can also google an image of the shot card too doesn’t mean sh-t when my name isn’t on it

@2fet+1eWk2Da7 - seriously? Let me simplify it for you. You’re accusation of being ignorant is actually entertaining. Employees gets covid, employee shows proof by submitting a positive test. See how simple that would be. Why shouldn’t they have to? People are being forced to show proof of vaccine. See how that works?

Sorry but I also worked while having covid. Do you feel like cr-p ? Sure but the majority of us work from home so there really is no excuse to call in like most people are still doing . And to those getting offended by this are probably the ones doing the calling out

Do you know how much extra work it would be to verify this?

In PA there are around 50 thousand new covid cases every day. Every day, multiple people working at BNY and/or their families are going to get it.

Let's say BNY implements a policy where you have to document that you really, really do have Covid. How would that work? Email your manager a document from your doctor? What does the manager do with it, upload that to a centralized HR database? Who reviews that? Who sets up the system to track it all? Would that be cheaper than just letting people take the benefits and move on?

Believe me, someone already went through these scenarios and decided it was easier to just give people these benefits. Your question is more of a reflection of your ignorance and insecurity than anything.

No, it won't save you, @1qcd. I had surgery and was supposed to be out 2 months but came back after 10 days to help my coworkers the best I could. Three months later my job was eliminated.. Lesson learned.

Far too many employees take advantage of the insane number of days the company gives to employees (this has always been the case). On the flip side it's equally embarrassing that people work through being sick. Sure it's more manageable when remote work is in play. And certainly for asymptomatic people, there's no reason to use the days. BUT I've observed several colleagues who complain about symptons but refuse to take a day off... These are the same types that other posters have mentioned - those that think it will somehow save them come layoff time. Maybe it will, but do you really want to live with such fear?

@1hwv+1eWk2Da7 - I think you need to go slow and re-read the thread. What you commented makes zero sense and you sound like the Karen

Ok Karen, why don’t you tell these employees’ managers? And next time you yell at someone for not putting their mask on, how about you put your fork down?

I also worked when I had covid but also had team members claim to have it and instantly take 5 days upfront or claim family had it and they had to care for them and take 5 days up front. If BNYM if going to pay for this bs then they should have to show a positive covid test as proof
