Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BACK TO THE OFFICE

Heard from a good source we will not be going back to the office until May or June. If Omicron is subsiding, they want to make sure there isn't a resurgence.

Can’t we just buy some Kleenex for the common cold, er… Omicron, which at this point is far less than a cold?

Only thing I’m worried about is wearing a mask all day, even if only for two days a week inside the office. Is this still going to be a requirement? Either we are ready to go back or not. I got COVID already (3day headache & 3 days congested- I got a mild case) and then vaccinated for “YOU” already now you want me to risk my health with this mask requirement. I wear a mask for max 1-2hrs at an appointment or grocery shopping. Those are the masks I can afford. You going to pay me to buy better ones that “maybe” don’t cause medical issues in months to a year so I could go back to the office with people who don’t want to be there. Sh-t, I don’t want to be there. WFH works and our team still interacts all day. You are just costing me more (2hr commute) for something I can do at home. Save money on your lease.
As much as I want to support business around the office, it shouldn’t cost me $$$ and an additional 2hrs a day. We work long hours everyday, paid of course but leaving office at 7-8pm to get home for bed to wake up to go to work. eliminating that commute has shown me and you there’s a better work life balance if you want a person to do two, maybe three jobs depending on whose on vacation.

It was supposed to be a temporary thing anyway (that lasted longer than most expected). I'm pretty sure most would rather stay at home. Freaking out about RTO on a layoff blog isn't going to push it back until eternity.

Who cares! I’d rather we never go back in the office. Some of you don’t shut up and do you’re work . I like the silence of my dining room

Depends what the other firms do. No way BNYM is capable of making a decision.

What’s the big deal? Get an apartment near the office in TriBeCa. Buy a farm upstate. When in office live in Manhattan. When unwinding and working from home stay at the farm.

Then we will never get back to office - COVID mutates into different variations, like the flu virus.
And new vaccines will have to be created to "cure" them.
