Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Contact HR if you have any concerns at all with RTO

I have seen several associates who had a RTO date in December, but have expressed their concerns directly to HR and their RTO date was moved to at least mid January. I don't know if there is going to be any changes to the RTO plan, but what I do know is that the extension to January is being done. So please contact them and let them know your concerns, people are not bringing up their issues with RTO and are just settling for going back to the office because they are afraid to lose their job. Express any and all concerns you have, they have to see their non sense RTO plan fail. This will at least buy you some time while you make other arrangements or corporate plans change, plus it's year end.

@vua+1ebEvPQU - how does one get on this magical boot list?

Once you receive an RTO date then you can file a medical accommodation request if you are in need of an accommodation when returning to the office or you have a bona fide issue that prevents you from working in the office right now. HR will grant temporary extensions for WFH while your case is being reviewed and you do not have to RTO until your case is finalized and a decision is made.

Personally, I really have not seen any indication that the bank is going to formally enforce RTO, especially not initially. No one is going to have their jobs threatened or face disciplinary action for feeling uncomfortable returning.

I absolutely agree with the OP that more should speak up and express their concerns and opinions about working in the office. The fact that many feel intimidated or afraid of retaliation is unfounded and anyone on here saying otherwise is just fearmongering.

The Bank is using RTO to drive up attrition, they expect many people to leave on their own so there will not be any broad based layoffs in '22. As soon as they hit the RIF target, then I'd expect some official "flexible work arrangement" plans put in place for certain groups. Sr leaders have already been hinting at flexibility down the line because they know full well that it will take some compromise to make employees happy.

The more people that request WFH, the more secure I feel my job is when I show up to work everyday.

Yes, please request your extended WFH. It’s keeps the real workers, like me, feeling safer about not getting RIF’d.

Um, no way I’d ever contact HR for anything. If i don’t feel well, I will WFH. But I’m also not going to be an alarmist and live in fear for the rest of my life about covid and the variants. This is here to stay, people. Adapt or get left behind (let go). It’s now about the survival of the fittest minds. If you’re scared, you’re going to fail at work and at life.

I’m former HR. Anytime you make a demand or complain, you are one step closer to getting the boot. But I digress, most people are aware of who will be on the next RIF list.

HR serves the best interest of the company, they do not care about the employee. When you bark, they look for ways to shut you up and get rid of you. Fact.

I’m going into office because id rather have a job in 2022. Amazing how many people are afraid of this. It’s obvious they are using it as an excuse to stay home. I’m sure they will be regretting their laziness when they get laid off.

Ah, I see our wannabe GIS " 'Grow up' is my go-to comeback when I come here to wine" poster is back.
@owl+1ebEvPQU is a childish attention ho who either isn't important enough to have a dayshift position or who is posting on work time. Nice work there Skippy.

I just got mine postponed. Thank you for this message. The omicron variant has me worried. I have a young child at home and the bank is not following CDC guidelines by having us sit six feet apart and not having to wear mask while at our desk. Very scary!!!

All of the other big banks and financial institutions (JPM, MS, GS, etc) are already RTO and everyone is FINE! Why are BoA people so afraid??? WFH is over. Sure, call HR and get on that list, get an extra month WFH in your pajamas and then get laid off in March after they lower your already sh1tty bonus in February.

Or you can grow up and get your a$$ back to work.

One thing to remember, HR is not your friend. They are there to protect the bank, not the associate.
