Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Why BNY?

I'm curious to know why people are applying to work at BNY Mellon in this day and age.

And I'm not talking about the young fresh out of school graduates with no work experience. I'm talking about the people that have years of experience in the industry. What is so desirable about this company that makes you want to be here?

I’ve heard of senior analyst jobs at PNC in middle office being listed for $38k target salary. While BNY isn’t the highest paying bank in the industry, even intermediate rep positions pay more than that.

So at least in Pittsburgh, BNY sometimes pays more for similar roles at other companies

They probably think complaints about bnym are unfounded and just the typical thing where employees need something to complain about.
I just connected with a few IT people who worked with me here for about a year. Neither one of them listed bnym on their linkedin profile.

BNY is struggling to hire due to their reputation, constant layoffs, off-shoring and low pay. BNY HR is also notoriously horrible. It is a dumpster fire.

Sometimes people get bored and don't really need the money but want to try something new. Or else to escape from a toxic workplace in their prior job. Some people just want something easy for a little bit and then move when a great opportunity actually comes along.
