Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Can this company ever think for itself? Extra day off 12/31

And as usual - the company decides to give an extra day off AFTER all the other companies decide to do it. This place can’t make a decision on its own for the life of me!

Interesting, never once had one in my 34 years. Maybe it’s a new thing? I remember long ago getting a 10 year certificate through interoffice mail 5 months after my anniversary. Managers are nice about sending out mass anniversaries emails, no day off for it in my experience.

@2tup+1epntyiG: Maybe you've been with the firm for less than 5 years. I completed mine in March and got an email from Todd (wow!) congratulating me for the milestone with the firm, also saying I was receiving one day off to be taken after discussing with my manager.
If you search in MSS - I believe the keywords are "years of service" or "service milestone", you'll find that out.

There has NEVER been a free personal day off for ANY years of service milestone.

If you ever got one it was your best friend manager doing it off book.

figures that some people can't be happy about anything.

Sure, it's a day off on a low productivity day anyway.

Take the win. Quit whining. Spend the extra day off with a loved on.

For those complaining, make sure you complain about your years of service anniversary extra day off too.

Good move on the part of Todd. Cheers!

@jrk+1epntyiG - I mean St. Patty’s day is a pretty close second to NYE. Not a holiday for the rest of the bank. There’s your target day. Enjoy the extra day you ungrateful b1tch.

I agree. This place is incapable of thinking for itself. The people on here that are so ‘greatful’ for their measly day off are the same ones that have their noses up their bosses a$$. Must be new employees. They will learn…

This is such a bad decision again of BNY. I'm part of the people that can't take the day off or isn't allowed and we get a random day off before March 31st. I honestly think it's another slap in the face. Who doesn't want New Years eve off and what can you compare that night too before March 31st? Either way if they had some brains they would have offered money or the options for a day off but no lets work more for free!! Getting so tired of this place!!

Seriously. The OP is truly a jack a-s. I mean…..for goodness sake get a life, or, maybe go work at Starbucks or something. Who needs the negativity. Life is too short.

This is great. I came on this site just to see how people were going to construe a surprise day off as a bad thing, and you succeeded! As far as I can tell, none of our major clients or competitors have this day off.

You must be a true beacon of joy during the holiday season!
