Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Any word on Bonus/merit?

I’m curious what anyone has been hearing about this year’s bonus and merit raises. I have some coworkers who believe they’re going to be good this year after almost everyone got no merit last year.

I make less and less each year due to rising healthcare costs.

Fake news. Merit has never been 3%. 1.3% is closer to the truth,

Yes, @bii+1ewdo8I9 , 3 percent is indeed nada for those making less than 100k, as it was (and mostly was far worse) , but,, it took 25 to 35 2-3,000 hour years exempt from overtime for those of us who paid our dues while working up to 100K per annum.

If you put out you will be rewarded. If not, you will be disgruntled. It’s not a punch in punch out union job, nor should it ever be. It is what YOU make it.

Can you make it?

I heard they were going to give us 8% and deposit it directly into our 401K account.

Oh, sorry. That is Blackrock.

Considering the inflation this year you'll be getting nothing in merit increase - you will pay them and work more!!

I would not expect anything.

Then you might find yourself being pleasantly surprised.

Manager said that late January/early February is when we’ll have a discussion about the bonus amount

When do the comp. conversations with employees start? For 2021, it was Feb. 1, but I recall hearing it was going to be earlier for 2022.

If better merit increases and bonuses are given then they will expect more output from us in 2022. In the end, it will only be a win for them.

bny mellon lost a lot of people this year. they cant replace these people quick enough or for the same cost so they want people to stay. maybe more resignations will mean more bonus pool to go around. also many articles on the web that corporations plan to give better merit than last year for sure due to inflation. also getting good ratings helps.

Does anyone know if bonus pools are flat or up year over year?

My dept is around 2.5 from what i saw. I can also confirm they are somewhat using year end ratings to base what people receive.

When I gave my notice a few weeks ago, my boss told me they were going to be 3% this year. I don’t think they would lie to me.

I'm sure they will be good for some. How do you think Bridget ended up with 112,218 shares?

I heard “good” but I would be shocked if it were anywhere near inflation levels so be prepared to make less next year in terms of real wage. Who knows, maybe BNY Mellon will pleasantly surprise and give out 7%+.

They’re the same as always with 3% being the highest. It’s all going to depend on what your mgr was given as a merit pool allocation to try to distribute to your team . it’s based on performance with those doing the best getting the most
