Just curious who here is having to work on New Year’s Eve? Even though the CEO said we have been given an extra pod holiday, I’m being told that I’ll need to work that day.

My group took the day off and lost all of our overtime pay - it became extra time. The company always wins…
Just suck up to management like middle management does and you will get the day off.
What does having 12/31 off have to do with layoffs?

it's not a federal holiday so it's on a need basis for some. why is this a surprise?
I have always worked NYE, he-l i work most holidays so its no different for me. I was shocked to have xmas eve off.
Did you even read the email? It says if you are required to work that day that you and your manager should identify an alternate day to take off.
