Can anyone shed light on the truth behind the installation of all the cameras in the stores?
All the money spent on them cannot just be to monitor theft.
Now we're being watched and our conversations being monitored too???
What about our rights?

I hope people slip and fall why should I care what happens ? Good for them if they do fall in one of our stores theu can maje some money. If the company makes money I don't get anything extra so if they lose money maybe some higher up a-s clown might take a hit. Leave hazards on the floor just ignore them its not worth the effort to bend down and pick them up.
Slip, Trip and Falls are real (and faked for substantial settlements)
The average slip & fall is settled for $600,000.00 - $1,000,000.00
The average cost to have ADT/P1 upgrade a store’s camera system is a fraction of this… expanding coverage is self-explanatory, and lack of TM privacy shouldn’t be one.
To the paranoia point: There are numerous systems that exist but are misused by individuals. For example, store leadership had no hand in planning or approving the cameras but use them for tracking TMs (think Covid - Social Distancing).
Heard the store in Cali has 1100+ cameras

how much are we losing in misrings and theft at the self checkout registers???
If this doesn't tell you how they feel about us, nothing will.
You don't have any rights to privacy in someone's business, except when you're using the bathroom.
There are a few reasons they could be installing new cameras. Depends on the store and situation.
Most Dairy coolers don't have cameras in them but I've heard of stores where the shenanigans in the cooler got so bad they installed cameras inside.
There may be dead zones in the store where cameras can't see. Thieves & TM's can easily figure out where they aren't being filmed.
It could be an older system and they are simply upgrading.
It could be a trial store for the Amazon Go model where there are no checkouts. The cameras track the product and charges you when you leave. Those stores have something like 200+ cameras.
