I guess the procedure has changed since I went through it.
I was "notified" on a manager call with an HR rep who took my email, and went through some high level info, all on the same call.
I had one immediate question for her which she addressed. The email from her, with the link to do documents, was received by the end of the day.
More layoffs in 2022 are coming early 2Q, definitely in ops & tech. It use to be managers would start call, give you the news, and then turn it over to HR rep on phone. Now, it will be manager, who gets your email, and you get the rest of your exit info via email. Very cold. But par for todays leadership.
@1wol, that is AFTER you are notified. When I was notified by my boss, they got my email address to send the severance documents to. That included info about HR webex meetings with no Q&A.
My career ended in a literal 3 minute, if that, phone call and no one from HR bothered to get involved.
My manager, who had only met with me 1 on 1 maybe 5 times in the years I worked there, sent me a meeting invite for "1 on 1 (important!)" 30 minutes before the meeting.
I did the needful and met with him. There was an HR rep on speaker to answer my questions. I did not have any questions.
I was 100% expecting it to be a layoff notice, especially after getting a surprise BE rating a month prior. My manager told me he didn't want to give me that rating, but his manager forced him to. I immediately began looking for another job after that and had one lined up in time for the layoff.
It was one of the happiest days of my life.
There will be no layoffs as a mass exodus is coming after bonuses are paid.
I'm shocked that there would be no HR person on the call.
It was the HR person who went through the various dates, SUB payment length, provided an EAP contact immediately and forwarded the link to the website with the necessary documentation and forms.
No HR rep was on the line when I was notified.

What LOBs/ Locations/ Teams are getting laid off?!
Should be the manager. Like the other reply mentioned you'll receive an innocuous invite along the lines of "weekly catch-up" or "1x1 with manager" and once you're in it HR will start to lock down your accounts/privileges behind the scenes.
My manager slacked me and said let’s meet in 5 min for a call. I saw the message 3 minutes in. He said my position has been eliminated. I said thank you. Got off the phone and that was it.
