Shifts with no breaks

^
That doesn't happen in my store. However, according to some writing here, it could be concluded that there are a lot of those who do long shifts with no breaks. Of particular concern is "no breaks".
Is it possible? I would automatically give notice if I was under so much pressure that I couldn’t take a break.

I am honestly surprised by the TMs who think they are earning brownie points by working off the clock during their lunch. At best you will be taken advantage of and at worst you will be fired.

they do everything 'right' as the last reply said if it could lead to a lawsuit. leadership at wholefoods only purpose is to not let the store get sued...they literally cant do anything else efficiently anyway. cant wait until half these ASTLs get fired soon

We are told if we don't take our 30 min lunch we can be fired and leadership is watching the cameras so no working lunches. Leadership tells us to take our 10 min. breaks but they don't enforce those. They do not pressure us to work through them however or eat while working. One of the few things they actually do right.

You bet the global and regional buyers are taking their breaks....even if they are in their living rooms. But don't worry they still find something to complain about so you are not alone. This used to be a great job but nowadays its more like work

Out of some silly sense of loyalty, I skipped hundreds of breaks over the years. I came in early when asked, and I stayed late when necessary. After four years of insulting raises, I've put an end to that. I take every break I've got coming. I clock in on time, and I leave on time.

The clueless bean counters and micromanagers who run the company have destroyed more than their myopic hubris could even allow them to fathom, and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

True a lot of the 40hr TM's chip away a few minutes a shift to get overtime don't you think that should be considered stealing I see it a lot with everyone short handed no one notices the labor budget closely.

they watch the 30min lunch breaks when it starts to mean labor budget issues and tm getting over time...i know team members who abuse this all the time to get overtime...they will go weeks before getting caught...and ive seen buyers/TL's working off the clock as stated above to work on office work and the such to make them appear that "they are finishing tasks in a efficient and appropriate time frame"..only for them to then not take breaks and get a bit of overtime..some STL's look the other way at this behaviour...

I wish I was told I couldn't take break would be a great opportunity to sue the company and make some cash.

I'm old. I've been at Whole Foods a while. Leadership will always say "take your breaks." However, if you do not, they will very rarely tell you to stop skipping them. Only if it becomes a labor budget issue.

I have also come to realize there are two types of TM's. Tm's like myself who become sluggish an less productive after breaks we don't need, and Tm's who absolutely need breaks to recharge. Neither is "wrong" but each will get negative feedback from leadership.

I prefer to not take my breaks but I absolutely do not care if others do, and encourage them to take breaks when they need one.

As leadership I can gauge productivity of Tm's and many times I can get more productivity out of a TM is I let them go early if they can skip break. Obviously we do that as an occassional appreciation and not all the time.

I once saw a store ASTL tell a grocery ATL "Take 30, but make sure you work on the schedule while you eat"

adults will use their breaks if they have been here for a while. the new kids going to college either dont work at all or get overworked and abused (skipping breaks). thats how it is at my store

In the department of 4, that I work in...we take A mandatory lunch break. I once asked if I could take a 10-minute break and my TL said"Go use the restroom grab a drink and come back." I never asked again bc I know that me breaking away to use the restroom and asking for a break, would be viewed as me fa----g around. 🤣🤣😂Get it?
