Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Forced to RTO just to be on teams meetings all day, really???

Why am I back in the office again? What’s my purpose in being here if I’m just gonna be on teams and webex all day?

At least the mailman still shows up in NY. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow but those homeless thugs will stop them from delivering.

Coprolalia, literally ‘sh-t speech’, is a prominent feature of Tourette’s syndrome. Although all manner of obscenities or indelicate expressions may be involved – one Peruvian man repeatedly blurted orders to make him coffee – scatological expressions are the most common. The first reported case, the Marquise de Dampierre, a woman of ‘distinguished manners’ presented by Jean Itard in 1825, would exclaim ‘sh-t and fu----g pig’ at inopportune times, and one of Gilles de la Tourette’s original cases included a boy who favoured ‘sh---y ar-----e’. The preference for excremental language appears to be widespread across cultures, although admitting distinctive forms, such as the unique Japanese expression kusobaba (sh-t grandma). The universality of excremental blurting in Tourette’s syndrome is surely no accident, as cross-cultural studies of swearing find scatological expressions to be ‘the undisputed leader among the taboo themes’ (Ljung, 2011, p.135).

A little off topic but since it was brought up a couple comments back... there seems to have been reorg of 240 based groups now reporting into office park based directors who report back into 240 several levels up. What is the point of this - shouldn't it be the other way around where groups are headquartered in NYC or to a lesser extent Bos/Pitt. It's actually embarrassing how things are now structured. Unless the goal
is to move those groups out of Manhattan -in which case, one - it makes sense, but just do it already. Stop dragging feet like everything else this company does unless (God forbide) there's a $200 loss and we need to set off alarms to immediately remediate.

60-85% poster is full of it!
I was the only person from my team in the office today.

240 22 is way overcapacity on paper but 90% empty the few times I've been in the building. The entire floor now reports into a management group located in middle of nowhere Florida so maybe no one cares about being reprimanded or sees the writing is on the wall...

Our building is 60% to 85% full daily. And I make sure to let my manager, who is in another location, know this. You should all do the same. This 20% full, fake news.

And once again a thread devolved i to toilet humor. Why?!! It’s not funny. It’s not clever. It’s not original. So annoying.

It's all about saving the big wigs holding commercial real estate. They need to sheep in the barn to make it relevant.

Everyone on my team including our manager has given up on it already. Nobody is keeping track, and I think no one besides the tippy top actually cares.

Cause all it was is an excuse to get people back in . They make zero sense and are so far behind other companies from updated systems to WFH it’s pathetic

Same here! Whoever is in office is on Teams meetings all day. Floor is about 20% capacity. What’s the point?
