Succeeding at BofA

I'm leaving. Life is what you make out of it. After almost 10 years of working here I still haven't learned how to succeed at BofA. Does anyone know? Those who get promoted and say that this can be achieved through hard work should not be trusted. I tried it, but without success.

You have succeeded by getting out. Don’t try to rationalize the unfairness of this place. It’s who u know and

You get promoted if you’re the manager’s favorite or if the promotion fits into an agenda such as D&I. Gone are the days where people are promoted based on hard work and work ethic much less education.

TS admitted it on a AHC can’t remember the exact words but.. imagine being on a team and not knowing what your team members face looks like (webex/Skype? I thought) he continued : That’s no way to get a promotion..

Two years and you see the hard work/production! That’s what should matter, but it doesn’t. Have you to play the game.

Both comments above are spot on. It doesn’t make a difference how you actually perform only who likes you. Sell your soul to make people like you with mediocre work and you will get promoted

How you succeed is by kiss the right azz, sleeping around, being a friend to, or family member to upper management. That's how. And if you think I'm lying, sadly I'm not.

I’m not an employee anymore, but I remember that sucking up would get you far. Tell your manager (and his or her manager) how incredibly smart they are, even if they aren’t. Gush about their brilliance. Drink the kool-aid, at least in their presence. In my experience, this was more important than hard work. I can’t speak for others, but it’s how I felt. It’s all about who they like, not about who works the hardest.
