Rising Covid cases spark fears of another wave

I keep seeing headlines suggesting that another wave is ahead. Isn’t this ongoing mess a reasonable concern with folks being forced back just to eat cupcakes together? Or a good reason to allow folks to WFH successfully as they did for 2+ yrs? Went in 1 day last week and the office was disgusting (very dusty) and everyone seemed to be coughing.. I did not return on Tuesday..

Headline:
1d ago - Rising Covid cases spark fears of another wave
The number of new Covid cases are rapidly increasing as the BA.2 subvariant continues to spread. New York City’s transmission rate is up 32 percent in the last 10 days, raising concerns of a potential fifth wave of the pandemic.

Some folks got their undies in a wad at the slightest mention of COVID.. nobody cares if you didn’t get the vax. Seriously… nobody is worried about taking your freedom (but it would be good to take the freedom from some of you to reproduce). Don’t get the vax.. we literally don’t care. But take a seat when others have a valid suggestion that it’s reasonable to take it into consideration when necessary - and when RTO is pushed on those who have kids and/or family members at home with cancer, etc. The only thing that is “short-sighted” would be to suggest it’s not a valid concept to keep in the mix. Nobody said it should be the sole reason to continue WFH.

I am personally all for WFH. I think using Covid as a reason when logically, it could be applied to the flu, sniffles or whatever you want.

It doesn't matter.

What matters is an individuals right to choose what works best for them. I couldn't care less about Covid and my thoughts are shared by many. It makes the argument weaker because the impetus is transitory and again.. short sighted.

God, more antivax people. Can't you just be happy bank hasn't pressed you to come back yet? I don't care if you got Vax or not.. or if you wear a mask.

@evf+1gDKgs6Z It’s more than reasonable to also still consider the COVID aspect/concern when it comes to the WFH “argument” - the fact that WFH works/is the new norm isn’t minimized just because the COVID aspect is a factor. It’s short-sighted to suggest it’s not another great reason why we shouldn’t be forced back to the dusty germ-infested Petri-dish if we prefer to WFH. And give me a break on “those who prefer to work in office”… despite what they want you to believe , there are very few people clawing at the door to return lol! You can have your freedom all you want- and I’ll leverage my freedom to suggest folks should have the option to continue WFH and avoid another wave if they choose.
Geeze.. unbelievable that people still believe they’re being asked to “surrender their freedom” just because others express concerns about their family getting sick.

Doesn't matter if it is gone or not. The fact is, locking people away was never the correct approach and approaching WFH with Covid as the logic is short sighted.

The vast majority of people are perfectly fine when they have covid, restricting those who do want go into the office on the grounds of Covid is unfair to them. The argument should not be about Covid, it is about individual desire, responsibility and convenience. What works for one does not work for all and with a multi billion dollar Bank we should have the freedom to decide for ourselves.

I'm the poster of that. My point is wfh is no longer associated with just covid and I'd love for covid to no longer exist... I don't think covid is gone. I am one of the few that still wears a mask indoors in my area. Regardless of covid, I won't work for a 100% in office company. I work longer hours, very productive and more time with my family when WFH. Wins all around.

“Happy to see Covid go away” WTF is wrong with you people? Just because you want it to be gone doesn’t mean it is.

Exactly. I'm happy to see covid go away but having more time with my kids and less on a train has motivated me to keep this work lifestyle.

Stop making the WFH argument about covid. It's about convenience, individual desire and the fact we have done it already for years.

Not because you may get a bit sick and should get to WFH to avoid that. You should get to WFH because it is convenient, makes sense and is objectively cheaper and easier for everyone involved.

Several folks in my immediate area in the office were exposed and were out of office for at least 2 weeks

4 people that I know of have come down with Covid in the office. They are all working from home.

So bottom line is - they want us to come to the office 5 days a week, but also don’t care if we work from home while people have Covid.

What a sweet company we work for - it’s only their bottom line that matters.

Same. Lots of news lately about the variants and how transmissible they are- mutating fast and not less harmful as originally thought. Not good for RTO conditions in little cubes 6 inches from others.
