Ergonomics -open floor plan

How does it work with Ergonomic needs with the open floor plans/redesign? Tons of people have ergonomic chairs, desk risers, ergonomic keyboard/mouse, foot rest, etc.. How do they have all of this? And what about those with approved dimmers on the lights over their space (people get notes from doctors to dim lights for migraines, glare, etc).

What about headsets and the docking stations that are impossible to replace? Surely they don’t expect us to tote all of this stuff in and out, right?!

On Flagscape, there is an ergo page. I have seen employees request items and get those. Also ask your manager. I ended up buying all my ergo stuff myself, but I never tried plus you have a medical accommodation needed.

I've never seen so many "special requests" for employment, as I've seen from associates who work for the bank. It's ridiculous. When I go to the grocery store, restaurants, and various other places I sure don't see, all these "special requests" in other places of employment.

Dude who said Toughen Up…

You can consider yourself very lucky you’re on an anonymous site because my first instinct when I read your filthy post was illegal.

I’d love to have the luxury to “toughen up”, but unfortunately I was hit by a drunk driver who destroyed my hips and caused Brain and neurological issues that make me sensitive to certain bright lights and result in migraines. I’m as tough as I can be and don’t want to request a work from home accommodation if I don’t have to.. that’s why am asking a question… wasn’t asking to be a whiny wimp, but unfortunately we Don’t all have the luxury of being as tough and heartless as yourself. Wrap your head around the fact that other people have difficult circumstances that should be addressed and considered.. and then be grateful you don’t.

We moved before the pandemic but they were very careful to find accommodations for folks that needed them. You won't have a docking station. Headset goes in your locker. The desks are setup to be ergo friendly. Monitors easily move up, down, sideways and the desks move up and down as well. Not sure about the lights but I'd ask your rep

You won't have it anymore. You'll sit in your normal assigned seat just like the rest of the folks. You'll then have 2 choices, stop with the requests with the dimmed lights, special desks, expensive chairs, etc..., and toughen up. Or go find a company who can accommodate all your requests for employment.

They don’t have that floor plan at our site yet… I’m asking people who are at a site with this open layout already if they have their ergonomic chairs, etc.
I’m not complaining that I don’t have mine.. I have my set up currently.. just wondering if and how I’ll have it when our building is updated.

You don’t get it. They don’t care. There are medical accommodations and ergo accommodations. They have a list of those associates that have either or both. If they did care they would have set that up prior to you returning to the office and not have the crazy idea of musical chairs.

I know how the process works- and I did have an assessment (have all my ergo stuff) — question was more around “how do they handle seating arrangements in regards to the ergonomic requirements for individuals with the new open floor plan where there aren’t assigned cubes?”

You haven’t needed a medical accommodation for years…only an ergo assessment.

Prior to COVID, one submitted for a ergo assessment. Upon assessment, one was able to order any items deemed necessary by ergo assessment. This would include an approved chair and standing desk attachment. Almost my entire office went through the process for standing desk/Vera desk attachment.

It is a half way attempt to bring people in. There is a list of people with ergo needs. It appears to have been thrown out. There was no ergo needs form sent prior to you coming back. You had to fill one out to get an ergo medical accommodation approved. But that was not reciprocated when bringing you back to the office.
