Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Hybrid update

Word on the street is that the bank won’t implement any sort of mass hybrid approach until they can corral everyone that keeps extending their medical accommodations back into the office.

That’s what I’ve overheard. (Conversation between some of the managers).

It feels like this is never going to happen. I wish it would sooner rather than later. I drive over 200 miles a week between M-F. I know I’m not the only one with a long drive. However, I’m so tired by the end of the week after 8 hours of work and 2 plus hours of commute time each and everyday that I have no motivation to do anything over the weekend.. it sucks.

Too late. Too late. They think they know everything and wound up like Putin thinking he can conquer Ukraine with the people there welcoming them with open arms. Lots of experienced workers already left. Once the remainder return they will be disgruntled to the point that they are just hanging onto a paycheck until they find another job closer to their home, that accommodates their work-life balance, or is hybrid/remote. Bank of America stubbornly crawled behind the times on this issue to purposely try to prove a point. The only point they proved is how to ruin the productivity and numbers of a bank in less than a year and a half. They failed miserably in how they implemented RTO and especially with how they interacted with their employees in RTO. The failure of higher management to realize it only proves that their days as management should probably be numbered. They could introduce a hybrid option within the next week or two to try to ameliorate a percentage of employees, but I think a great majority of the next level of experienced employees are just biding their time with a paycheck until they find something better.

My theory is they want everyone back in, so they get somewhat used to the annoyance and uselessness of 5 day a week. Then once they give the employees 1x a week at home, the employees will fall at the feet of management with gratitude.

The people leading the company are terrible at it.

My friends manager was in on that call with BM. What he said was he wants everyone back 1st then they will make a determination. By everyone they meant unvaccinated not medical accommodations.

I heard that if u are not coming they will do nothing to you. I ve also heard managers are simply told to remind people they should come in

Right. That’s why I said “overheard”, not that it was definitely accurate. My gosh.

OP here. I agree. The two have no correlation with one another. I’m sure that’s only being said because there’s no logical explanation to give. On my way out the door today, I heard a few folks saying they heard by end of summer we “may” know. I don’t want to believe that.

I don’t understand. I suppose we can only hope to hear something soon…

Highly doubt the OP is accurate. People being on medical accommodations would have no impact on hybrid for the masses.

Dang, they’re seriously just throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks.

Really pathetic and disingenuous. Being inflexible and not adapting to change is a recipe for disaster.

That makes no sense. Those people are protected by the ADA. What does that have anything to do with everyone else? I don’t get it. They can’t just deny medical accommodations? So are they just gonna sc--w everyone all together?
