Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

No wonder so many are quitting

BNY Mellon is extremely cut-throat and only those employees who know higher-ups have a chance to progress forward. Everybody else is out of luck. There is also no appreciation for new talent, and don't even get me started on trying to offer up new and innovative ideas. You might as well put a huge target on your back and carry it around if you try and change something for the better. No wonder so many are walking away and even more are looking.

That’s damn good pay for a clerical Job with a little bit of thinking skills. I imagine that the Digital Transformation team blew it in the AI training phase and went to OPs, the perpetual fallback plan.

Apply for an ETF job and you'll be a VP earning a whopping 75k by age 28. BUT regardless of comp, you're a VP (hooray for you) and no one can take that away...unless you apply externally.

Bnym has too many a$$ lickers and brown nosers only bothered about collecting their own salaries and climbing the ladder.
Anyone with a shred of integrity should get out.

OP does have one valid point. It does seem to require an act of God to get a new or innovative propagated up the chain,

There should be a mechanism to submit and surface new ideas, but in my experience there isn’t and I no longer try.

BNY is far from cut throat. More bottom of the barrel. And nepotism.

"BNY Mellon is extremely cut-throat" - I guess BNYM is your first employer in Finance. I came from GS, MS, JPM and THEY are the cutting throat ones.

BNYM is just a walk in the park compared to others.

yeah exactly in order to thrive at any job you should network and aim for visibility to management because they are the ones who approve promotions. what's your point?

Are you saying you want management to promote people they don't know? That's genious!
