Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Flagscape sustainability article

Anyone notice the comments before they were removed? Should have known better allowing comments on an article about CEOs taking private jets to discuss how much they care about sustainability

We are pushing digital for all of our clients and yet we do have this odd initiative to push everyone back to the office in person full-time. I understand the importance of togetherness, but a hybrid model of working from home and then meeting once or twice a week for team meetings, team building exercises, etc would be the most optimal path. I know it’s all been stressed already, but I do want to affirm and support my fellow colleagues thoughts on that specific matter of sustainability. That said, the employee engagement survey is coming up and I look forward to echoing these thoughts on that particular document to ensure my voice is lent to the hybrid model proposal. Bank of America is still a wonderful work environment and I am so grateful to work alongside such amazing colleagues and be provided such amazing benefits. This particular issue just really resonates in terms of how we overall must walk the walk not just talk the talk in regards to net zero and sustainability. Thank you, Brian Moynihan and everyone else who remains committed to pursuing tangible change for the future of my children, and future generations with climate change.” Liked by 81 persons --- finally, there was one more person who commented on how he/she walks back and forth to work due to his/her own personal commitment to reducing his/her own carbon footprint - and does so in 100+ temps for much of the year - a claimed total of 50 hours each month that could be given back if the policy were reversed to allow working remotely. which was liked by 13 persons

Another person wrote "Respectfully, I agree with a lot of people in this company who feel this environmental transition is not what this is about. WE have been working from home the past two years and now you are sending us back to the office when gas prices have more than doubled. Working from home, I believe made us more productive and happier."

Another person wrote: “Respectfully, the World Economic Forum and leaders contradict their stated goals by their own actions. The WEF and leaders often talk about sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, while at the same time, flying all over the globe on private jets. If there was such concern about the environment, wouldn’t these leaders be meeting virtually as opposed to wasting jet fuel to meet in person? The bank itself talks about its goal to reduce carbon emissions, but has requested all employees to return back to the office without so much as offering a hybrid schedule/option to work from home even part of the time for employees who are non-client facing. The stated reason is that we “work better together”, but in my situation (and I’m sure others as well), more than half my team works in other states and the floor in my building is nearly empty. Having employees going from working 100% remotely for two years to suddenly being thrust back into the office full time does not at all contribute to the stated goal of reducing carbon emissions. Moreover, employees are now having to purchase more gasoline, at a time when gasoline prices are sky-rocketing.” - liked by 161 persons
