Believe it or not. Because BAC operates globally, your tenure is valuable in the sight of other financial institutions. I was let go after 25 years in GT&O a few years ago and felt the same way upon departure. Taking my time looking around, I landed a SWEET job within three months with another financial institution because of my technical and management skills gained while working on global in scope IT projects and transitions. Ironically, I had three job offers all come in the same day. Two with financial organizations, one with a state university. Don't sell yourself short. Just document everything you have worked on and be able to coherently speak to it.

Agreed on selling yourself and needing to have your own brand. These are newer, more influencer-like skills that I hate. It’s sucks because just because someone is good at selling themself in an interview doesn’t mean they’ll be good at the job. Have learned that lesson the hard way when hiring. Just because someone is good at selling themself to leadership for a promotion doesn’t mean they got great results or did much for the team.

I am flexible and have had a non-linear career path as more of a generalist so I imagine that because of that my skills will remain relevant. Soft skills will always be relevant and able to be applied to the corresponding tech skills, so I focus on those first.

You need to be able to sell yourself and your skills in an interview. That’s that part where people could mess up. I know I find it hard sometimes.

Still marketable. Each person is different as to what type of transition they have. After a few contract roles at 3 different backs I was able you boost my confidence among younger workers. You need to be the type that can jump in and figure things out. Not much handholding out there.
