@OP, it's not really secret if SARs were filed.
@woz, when BNY bought Mellon, they were being shaken down by the Russians for laundering that took place a decade earlier.

Remember how when we acquired Mellon we learned about a legal action involving the IRS and Mellon employees throwing away tax payments, hiding them in the ceiling, etc. On par with our AML problems with Russia.

The corruption and the money laundering in 1999 was the direct result of 2 employees at bony. Both employees weee married to Russian businessmen. They were convicted.

Remember back when we were acquired how BONY was tangled up in an international Russian money laundering scandal. We were shocked at the extent of the corruption. Ever since then the scandals just seem to keep coming. When former corrupt IRS head Schulman came in with the TARP money we all realized that we were the bad bank. Should have left then.

Over the course of six years, BNY Mellon sent a stream of alerts to US authorities about the wire transfers, which totaled more than $700 million. But the bank couldn’t figure out whose money was on the move, those alerts show, surmising in one instance – incorrectly – that a British merchant that “deals in fruits and vegetables” was involved.

In reality, the funds were part of a vast offshore empire associated with Suleiman Kerimov, a Russian billionaire and politician close to Vladimir Putin. Kerimov’s connections to the transactions are revealed in the Pandora Papers, millions of leaked offshore financial records obtained by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
