Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Software Engineers, leave ASAP

The pay is cr-p. Especially in Pittsburgh. If you're a software engineer grind LeetCode and AlgoExpert.io

I more than doubled my salary by leaving.

Learn system design from Gaurav Sen on YouTube.

AlgoExpert.io also has a System Design course you can pay for too.

Really learn data structures, algorithms, and system design.

Get into an actual tech company. Spend 6 months to a year if you have to.

Check salaries from levels.fyi

BNYM base was like 82k

Getting 170k base plus stock and bonus.

/bk might not survive the next downturn or recession? With all blockchain technology custody banks are not needed?

Apparently @8syq has no concept of what the B in BNY Mellon stands for.

Nope, simply quoting the tool immediately below me so as not to further confuse the lad.

Apparently @8syq has no concept of what the C in CPI stands for.

The Bank is facing the same 8.5% CPI inflation that we all are, and they didn’t cause it.

Based on your viewpoint I’d say that you got just exactly what you voted for.

Billions in profits, 8.5% CPI Inflation, but 2-3% cost of living "raises"
This place sucks

Pluralsight LOL. Its cheaper to offer it to employees in lieu of real skilling up.

Any company still using powerbuilder to code their apps is definitely an archaic one

I, for one, simply cannot think of a better, more valuable credential than a few hundred Pluralsight training courses after a University of Phoenix mail order degree. Of course I am joking.

What a joke of a dysfunctional era we live in.

Why pay for external sites when BNY already has FREE access to Pluralsight.

I didn't know we employed software engineers. And from my experience, BK pays developers for $100k to $160k depending on their location in the US.
