Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Should I stay loyal to Bank of America?

I've spent four years here but my career is going nowhere.

Should I stay loyal to the bank and hope the mgmt will recognize my contribution or should I leave?

You should have left 2 years ago. You're underpaid to the market and your manager thinks you are a rube that'll do whatever they say because you don't know any better. If you put your foot down, guess what? You'll get a title promotion but you aren't getting paid any extra.

No company will ever be loyal to you. So don't feel bad about doing what is best for you.

Agree with all the other comments. Promotion have become about who you know. If you’re the manager’s favorite then sure you’ll get promoted. Knowing people in the right positions can get you promoted really fast. Certainly not about what you know, how qualified you are or what degrees you have.

If you decide to stay, then you need to brown nose your manager. Buy him coffee every morning. Ingratiate yourself with management, nothing else matters for promotions. Competency, hard work, skills, intelligence, credentials, experience, seniority, education are generally irrelevant. Not a meritocracy. Become super likeable, kind of Valley Girl d-mb, sociable, and non-threatening. Note: If you latch onto the wrong manager, you'll be toast when the machine gobbles him up. And stay young because at age 45-50, you're considered expendable.

GTFO from this shilthole of a company. This company sucks from the blockhead CEO BM on down. This company is azz backwards like their management team. There are so many companies that pay better and have more than this company.

Leave and never look back. Its better on the other side, I promise. I was loyal for 10 years and got no loyatly back. I left and the sad part is this new place is paying me a lot more and is loyal to me for only being there a few months. Funny how that works. It's not you, it's 100% them. Get out while the market is hot!

Bank of America isn’t loyal to anyone why do you want to be loyal to them. BOFA is a corporation they’re not loyal to anyone. Be loyal to yourself. Always be loyal to yourself. If you find a better opportunity, leave. There are so many better companies than BOFA. Besides this ship seem to be sinking. Get off while you can!

To be honest if you have the chance to go, just go. I have been here for 16 years and I can tell you that right now nothing is going anywhere. I have seen more people quit in the past 6 months than what I have seen the whole time I have been here, it is depressing.
