Courage to leave

Everything aside, the place where you spent more than a decade is not so easy to leave. I put a lot of effort into it, I went through a lot here, so to just pick up and leave, it's not so easy. Although everyone advises that one should flee from here, you still need a lot of courage to leave everything you've been building here for a long time How hard or easy was it for you to leave BNY Mellon?

I'd advise leaving. Seems scary at first but it's easy and your quality of life will improve.

Very easy. When you are determined, you will do whatever it takes. Left in November and have no regrets! Life is short, so get off your bu-t and make it happen!!!

30 years. First 10 were incredible. Last 20 were like boiling live frogs by turning up the flame gradually. Every aspect of compensation, opportunity, benefits, culture & ethics, trust got worse every year. I left.

A lot of your willingness to stay is based on events and a culture that is no longer here. I’m in the same boat.

I recently left after 20 years and it was something I had been thinking about for the last 2 or 3 years. It was a tough decision even though I absolutely hated the direction the company had been headed for quite some time. Moving on is never an easy decision but for a lot of us it has been the right one. You might love your boss and your staff and that makes moving on challenging but the company does not love you. Imo, BNY doesn’t deserve loyalty from anyone.

My position was "eliminated" a little over a year ago and it was quite a relief. I'm in a position where I don't need to work so it wasn't that hard. But I still think about all the things I planned to do to make our systems better and make the company money. Their shortsightedness cost BK quite a bit.

I did more than 10 years and it took a lot of courage but I was at breaking point. Being thrown under every proverbial bus by incompetent abusive senior management left right and centre.
Leaving was the best thing I did for my career. It was very hard, but I knew that it was the only option for my sanity.
I'm happy and confident again since leaving.
Best of luck to you.
