Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

If BNY Mellon wants me back in the office, they're going to have to pay me more

I know my worth. I know they can't replace me easily and I know they know it as well. I'm perfectly happy to continue doing my job and continue giving it my all from home. If they want me back at the office, they have to pay me more. It's as simple as that. Finding a new job right now - a remote job, at that - would not be a problem right now, so if they say no, I'm perfectly willing to walk away. They let the genie out of the bottle when they sent us home in 2020 and if they think they can just push it back in, they're sorely mistaken.

OP clearly works in Pershing, where mediocracy rules yet everyone is a legend in their own mind.

Nobody on this earth feels that you are irreplaceable except your mother.

The earlier you learn this the better it will be.

You were hired to work in the office, due to a global pandemic, you worked from home for two years , saving commuting and dry cleaning expenses. Now they are asking you to go back to work the office a few days a week and you are refusing. I dont think BNYM needs someone with your attitude

I know it well. Grow a pair, gear up, find a new opportunity and go for it.

Hint: put a little more time into your job search, networking, skilling up and networking than bloviating here on moving. I’ve got a 40 year career with 10 major banks.

Be flexible, be shrewd and above all, be honest, expect the same but verify. These are lessons which we all should have by our mid twenties… at latest.

You need to get rid of the mindset they cannot replace you. They can and will with someone in India they can pay a lot less

Does anyone have any idea of timeframes for receiving a new contract in the UK? Been four weeks already and I start the new role in two weeks
