Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Several stores are closing

From what I can see it's the locations in Chicago, Illinois; Montgomery, Alabama; Mobile, Alabama; Tarzana, California; and Brookline, Massachusetts. If there are any that are missing from this list, please add them. There should be at least one more, if I'm not mistaken.

i had a friend who worked at the mobile alabama store...he said it was a dud...sales were very slow......i think at global they get to full of themselves with projections and plans for certain areas...and once the corporate speak echochamber at the regional level gets turned on there is no going back...."moving forward...."

"The area has been craving a WFM for years and were so happy to establish a presence in the community" Ginger Lovett STL.

"Working alongside the many individuals and organizations brings positive change in their community was inspiring. Englewood has some good happening here and we have had the privilege to support the next class of food innovations, leaders, and entrepreneurs of the South Side helping to bring healthy food access to the community" Walter Robb former Co CEO of WFM.

WFM got an Elven Million dollar subsidy from the city to build this store. WFM promised much lower prices at the store. The average income in the Streeterville store is 160,000. The average income in the Englewood area is 32,000. The Englewood store is open less hours then the Streeterville store causing less access for the community. Make no mistake WFM put little effort into making this store work. Also if WFM were really transparent they would make public all of the financials of the store so people could make their own determination as to its viability. In my opinion these Food desert experiments are just a means for a photo op for WFM with the politicians and for WFM to get out all of its talking points about healthy food access to poor areas. Six years later the Florida store of Ginger Lovett may be next.
