Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

They know they can get away with it

Unlike six months ago, not many people are leaving right now. The leadership knows this. They know many of us are worried about a recession and don't plan to rock the boat right now, so they are using that to their advantage. Employees who received a 3% raise are much less likely to leave over it today than in November or December. Many who have refused to come in for RTO are now starting to come in. The leadership will milk this for all they can. I'm not looking forward to the following months.

I’m not concerned about any of that! Run me that package… I’ll gladly take the severance & be on my merry way. I know employees of every generation that feel the same way.

A recession isn’t a concern. People are still leaving and far more companies are on board with seeing the benefits of offering their employees flexibility already. #toptalent

Give me the package and i'll gladly go today. I have suffocating amount of work and it hurts them more than it hurts me.

There is a large variation in how the recession will hit workers. Older workers will likely as in the past have more difficulty than younger workers for a number of reasons. Obviously salary and limited opportunity for relocation and career change. The youngest happily can fallback to move in with the parents, with friends, and jump to new careers as easily as turning their head. Gone are the days where only retail and corporate jobs are the only sources of income. Gigs, freelancing, social media income easily surpass traditional work in the area flexibility and often job satisfaction. So no, I do not think the recession will hit the same as it has in the past.

Not sure which group you are in but our group has lost 40% of our workers in last 2 months with others ready to "retire" due to the extra work...I don't know many people worried about a recession, but do know many hoping for a great depression type stock market fall...we are young...
