Frequently changing deadlines and priorities

BNY Mellon has always been a busy place and employees have always been expected to respond to all changes quickly and gracefully. However, haven't changes in deadlines and priorities become more frequent now than ever before? That is my personal impression.

The days when your manager could do your job ended 30 years ago. The days when your manager basically knew what you did need 20 years ago. The days when your manager knew what you do and how many hours it takes ended over the last 10 years.

There's a difference between being flexible, responsive and agile. We just have pi$$ poor management. No planning. Mandates driven down from above with no cost justifications. No prioritization. No accountability. No support lined up for required groups. Deadline dates just randomly made up. Been like that for years.

Yes. Many more projects and deliverables in play. And unfortunately the required skill sets are getting larger too. I often have to take on much more because my team members are unable to deliver. They are not bad people and not bad workers, but the demands and the high level of ability is greater than ever. We all wear many more hats in 2022 at BNY Mellon.
