Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Did they try to keep anyone?

I still haven’t heard that BNY Mellon tried to keep anyone and offer them better terms after giving notice.
It happened to me at the last organization I worked for when I wanted to leave, but here it seems to me that there are no such cases.... or at least I do not know about them?

@7rwv+1haSTEdi Nobody got $20K increases for threatening to leave. This post is a hoot and a great belly laugh. No moderators here… I love it :-)

That would require managers to actually have the power to manage.

No. Though if you look hard enough under HR policies there is a formal policy and process about how to provide counter offers to employees who have given notice. It involves the employee providing proof of their new offer and senior management approval. Doubt it’s ever used though.

When I left in Nov. They asked me where I was going and told me "Good Luck!" Yeah, I thought it would be like that. Even working at BNY Mellon for many years, I noticed they were very cold. Mellon Bank was nicer
No retirement parties or anything. They do not look at you as a human being.

They asked what my new salary is (60% higher than my BNY salary) and they said they could never come close to that number even if they moved me to another letter grade.

I think our strategy for retaining employees is to wish them well and offer advice about not letting the door hit them on the way out. Oh and remind them about the notice periods and their commitment.
