I really really , did I say really hate doing these self assessments. Yes, through the year I have a document I keep track of what is going on. I jot down what I’ve done etc.. However putting it together for my Manager is where I get lost. A coworker, and friend told me in my career goal, I should state I want to work towards a title upgrade to Officer. This is my 10th year at BOA and I never considered that. I have held many positions and earned titles. Just not that. Can someone tell me what that really means? To be an “Officer”.. It is my understanding towards the end of the year is when your Manager recommends title upgrades. Anyone?

Honestly, the VP and AVP and SVP titles really don’t mean much either. What signals seniority is if you’re a Band 2 or 3. Anyone else is easily layered and is a middle-manager.

Yea Officer title means nothing. You’d be better off saying you’re working on earning as many global awards as you deserve this year.. at least that comes with compensation for your accomplishments.
You don't get a raise when you get moved to director in my experience...just an fyi...
I made more money when I was an AVP in the same group that I am director in....and no I am not sales
You don’t get a rating for your mid year review unless you are not meeting expectations. Your manager will type a few sentences and in workday the rating will be blank. Receiving an officer (corporate title) is not accompanied by a higher pay rate. I remember my manager telling me when I got mine that I would be decked additional responsibilities and tasks because I am an “officer” now. He meant that, believe me. I have noticed though that it is mostly associates with a corporate title getting promotions.
Hey folks, OP here, thank you for the honest feedback. Helped me out a lot. That is why I keep coming back here. Have a nice day!
I feel it's a complete waste of time to complete just like the fuhking surveys. I fill them out every year an nothing changes. This place is one big fuhking joke. This place only promotes friends and family. This is the reason for the incompetent management that exist here in this shlithole.
Most managers really don’t care what you put on your self assessment because they wouldn’t know what it meant anyway. They haven’t done your role and have not a clue what you do.
This place is still a friends and family environment and has nothing to do with skill set.
And an officer title means nothing. It’s just another way for leaders to show how they are managing responsible growth. They have to have a percentage of Officer titles every year.
Officer at BOA is a low totem pole position. An “upgrade” means added responsibilities with $0. I’d say get out while you can from the company.
For what it’s worth, I was told it really means nothing. Though it did not come from a trusted source. You won’t get a pay increase or added responsibility. They called it a morale booster.
How did that post twice?
