I'm a good employee and I know I'd be missed if I left, but if I approach my boss for a raise I know the answer will be no. I made the mistake of correcting him soon after I joined (I was right, by the way) which apparently put me on his sh-----t forever. I don't want to leave when the economy is so shaky but knowing what I know I can't justify staying either. Should I go over his head? How bad can it get if I do that?

As long as you are under the thumb of a manager that dislikes you, your career is at a standstill. Time to start interviewing elsewhere. Go work for someone that treats you with dignity and respect. You're worth a lot more than what they are offering.
Play the long game, if you have the stomach, this raise is peanuts. Get your money when you switch jobs internally.
If you think you will be missed you are mistaken. Everyone is replaceable.
Don't go over their head. Get tf out of there and get paid your worth some place else.
May I ask, how exactly did you learn you were underpaid?
As long as you work for this company you will be underpaid. Time to consider leaving for better pay if that’s important to you.
I d go over him if he doesn't take you serious. Also, if you don't put your request for a raise in writing you never asked. Nothing wrong about asking and hope he or person goes to bat for you with human resources. I know someone that it worked for...
My bosses here loved me but I still got 3 percent. Unless you are a long time employee, best to switch jobs if high raises are important
