Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I keep hoping for layoffs

I'm sorry, I know that might sound insensitive, but it's the truth. I keep hoping and praying for layoffs and that I'll be among those who are affected. I hate RTO more than I can say even though I only show up two days a week, max. It reminds me of all the things I hated about this place before we started working from home. The more time I spend around my good-for-nothing manager and having to commute for 90 minutes each day, the more I want out. I can't get myself to quit just yet, but being laid off would be perfect.

I despised RTO so much that I left. This place isn’t worth my time. It sucks that health insurance is tied to the job, and that this country has no safety net for those out of work, because I’m sure a lot more people would leave if they didn’t feel so trapped.

Me too - if they'd let me work from home and give me a decent raise (didn't get they 7% earlier this year), I'd knock it out of the park for this company.

But no, they've decided to dig in their heels over egomaniacal RTO.

Reap what you sow.

No more record results for BAC off my back.

You're lucky that you can show up two days out of the week. My department and some others around us requires us to be in every day and they are not trying to give us anything flexible

I feel identified with your point of view, and I really don't know what to do. I also have 2+ hour commute, and I don't feel like going back to the office. But I also hate the idea of passively remaining in a place where I am clearly not valued and where my physical and mental health is slowly deteriorating. Sometimes I think on simply taking a leap into the void and hope for the best. For now, I want to end the year with a job, and I'll see in January. I honestly don't think there will be layoffs - It's not the bank's style. The company prefers to hassle people until they leave on their own. How many lazy people are there in the company and nothing happens. They never fire anyone. In addition, the bank won't benefit from a public scandal about it.

Not OP, but I certainly sympathize with the view point. Common sense tells us no one wants to work somewhere they dread coming to work on Monday. Others have a great life outside of work, but also look forward to coming into work because of how supportive and engaging their workplace is. The bank could have supported our employees by listening to us. For example by saying, "We will support your individual choice for full remote, hybrid, and in-office option because an engaged workforce is best." Now instead we have lost most of the superstars and many employees just come in and do the minimum. Why go hard for an organization that does not support you..

Two days really isn’t that big of a deal though right?
