The Southside can thank itself for ruining a good thing. Either communities support their neighborhood stores or they don't and this one did not. Couple that with a liability that comes with the high amount of entitled shoplifters that graced that store and its fate was sealed. Hope they enjoy shopping the neighborhood qu----e mart.

yeah they are not laying off WF team members during holidays...there are a bunch of tm here at my store who definitely could get fired under normal circumstances but the team leaders dont want to have to hire at this time...plus i think amazon is going to impose another hiring freeze after the holidays...if they come at me with one of those amazon severance packages im going to take it...ive been working on mackey's farm for 2 decades...

I doubt they would layoff anyone at WF during the busiest season of the year.
However, come January all bets are off.

Lots of movement within the purchasing/space management ranks. I wouldn't be surprised if we see layoffs. They must know something that is happening in the beginning of 2023. This is a factual statement. WFM is probably outsourcing these roles

The layoffs at Amazon have nothing to do with Whole Foods. They're tech service related positions associated with Alexa. Stop making chicken little comments without even reading an article or two about the situation.

The stores that are closing are mainly in low income / crime-ridden areas where it doesn't make sense to pay for all this security and where employee turnover is high. Sometimes you cannot tell who are the employees vs criminals in these tough neighborhoods. Even hard to manage or find qualified employees in these communities. More inventory probably goes through the back door not to mention the amount of shoplifting going on. Hard to run a business in the area.
