Let go of the loyalty trap

For some reason, there are people who have decided to remain loyal to this place. Isn't it actually surprising how many are still here out of loyalty even though it is not rewarded through some special work opportunities? Maybe it used to be rewarded, but now I don't think it is.

I was naive and thought it would be worth something to work extra hours, respond over the weekend, and just go above and beyond. But I loved my team and the people outside my team that I worked with. My job was awesome because you could improve something every week and you had a decent bit of autonomy. That’s why I dealt with occasionally extra hours or fire drills. But then they brought in people above me from outside firms who completely ki---d motivation, flipped everything upside down, and commenced layoffs unexpectedly (one was my manager, who was even more well liked than me and taught me a lot of what I knew)…why would I be loyal to these people? So I looked elsewhere and oh boy was I underpaid! I now have a 50% boost in pay with slightly better benefits to boot.

Completely agree. I am only still here because I am at the point where I do as little as possible, 50 ish, & too beaten down to interview within corporate America. If I get let go, I’m OK with it if I get my package.

This company should be ashamed of how they treat employees….

Just wait till they tell us all we’re getting one percent raises because it’s a “difficult economic environment”… Meanwhile, Biden‘s inflation is 10%… Which we all know govt inflation numbers are bogus numbers to begin with not accounting for energy & food

Don’t worry about loyalty one way or the other. Focus on doing the right thing for yourself.

You are correct. These so called loyal employees are in serious denial. They will regret not leaving a while back. Life is passing them by.
